Summary: In this video, we continue our discussion of Strings, I/O, formatting and parsing. Here we see more examples on serialization. If a super class implements Serializable, then its subclass do automatically. But, when a Serializable class contains a class that is not Serializable, during serialization of the containing class, an exception will be thrown. Then we discussed an example of the equals() method, and the key point was that the equals() method not only compares content, but also types. The other examples have to do with File class and Formatting. We discussed how we can use the File class to create a directory (using mkdir() method) and a file (using createNewFile() method). Finally, we looked at an example that discusses formatting dates using the German Locale.
