Duration: 19 minutes
Summary: In this video, We will introduce animation. Animation is about changing the properties of an object over a period of time. This is not something you can easily create in Visual Studio because there is a lot of XAML that you need to manipulate. This is one of the reasons we are working with Blend. You notice that on the Windows menu you can go to the animation workspace or hit F6 for a shortcut. To start you need to create a storyboard. You will notice that the main design surface is surrounded with a red border. That indicates to you that the animation is taking place. So any property that you change at that point will be part of the animation. In our example, we create a star and change the properties at the 2 second and 4 second mark. We also change the properties to have the animation reverse and repeat its behavior over 25 seconds. Another thing you need to be careful about is that animation in Silverlight does not start automatically. So we create a button that once clicked will trigger the animation. This is an introduction and we will talk more about animation in the upcoming videos.
Methodology of the development of example: Good coding standard and simplified design to illustrate the key points.
Technology Used: Silverlight 5, Expression Blend 4
Keyword: Silverlight 5, Expression Blend 4, Tool Panel, Rotation, Star, Storyboard, Resources, Begin, Button, KeyFrame, TimeLine.
