Title: Delphi for Beginner – P10 - Final
Duration: 16:14 min
Delphi has many ways to access database, that is, BDE, ADO, IBExpress, and dbExpress. This video will talk about basic usage of dbExprsess components to access Interbase database. In dbExpress, datasets are unidirectional. It means that data cannot be displayed directly with data aware component because it only has single record buffer. Component that commonly used as data buffer is ClientDataset. This video covers how to use SQLConnection to connect to database, use SQLDataset to query data, and use ClientDataset as data buffer with DatasetProvider as a bridge between SQLDataset and ClientDataset. Data are displayed and edited with DBGrid and DBEdit. This video also talks about how to send modified data to database with ApplyUpdates method as well as how to display any error replied from database. This video is part X of the Delphi for Beginner Video Class that talks about fundamental elements of development application with Delphi.
