Summary: In this video, we looked at the new atttributes that are supported for HTML 5 elements. We started by creating a form asking the user to enter his/her information. The form has a submit and clear buttons. The input element now supports new attributes. We are able to put a placeholder that displays some text the serves as a hint for the user to know what the type and in what format. We can also use the required attribute to surround the input with a red border to inform the user about the error. When the user hovers over the text box, he/she will get a message. We also see that there are other types that are supported like email, tel (for telephone number), and url (for the wesite url). By simply adding this type, you get the support of errors when the item is in the wrong format. Finally, we saw the type range that represents a range of values with min and max attributes. Note that these features did not work when we tested them with Firefox 3.6.But they work well with Firefox 4.06 beta.
